| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184), entitled |
2 | "An act defining honey and regulating its sale and the |
3 | labeling and sale of imitations of honey; and providing |
4 | penalties for violation," further providing for a standard of |
5 | identity for manufactured honey. |
6 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
7 | hereby enacts as follows: |
8 | Section 1. The act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184), |
9 | referred to as the Honey Sale and Labeling Act, is amended by |
10 | adding a section to read: |
11 | Section 2.1. The Secretary of Agriculture shall, within one |
12 | year of the effective date of this section, promulgate |
13 | regulations to establish a standard of identity for honey which |
14 | standard shall apply to all honey manufactured, sold, kept for |
15 | sale or exposed or offered for sale in this Commonwealth. In |
16 | establishing the standard, the secretary shall commence with the |
17 | Codex Standard for Honey approved and adopted by the Codex |
18 | Alimentarius Commission and shall explain the reason for any |

1 | modification of the Codex Standard for Honey prior to finalizing |
2 | the regulations. |
3 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
