AN ACT

Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

2

Statutes, further providing for application for registration.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

4

hereby enacts as follows:

5

Section 1.  Section 1305(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania

6

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

7

§ 1305.  Application for registration.

8

(a)  General rule.--Application for the registration of a

9

vehicle shall be made to the department upon the appropriate

10

form or forms furnished by the department. The application shall

11

contain the full name and address of the owner or owners,

12

including county of residence; the make, model, year and vehicle

13

identification number of the vehicle; and such other information

14

as the department may require. Program participants in the

15

Address Confidentiality Program under 23 Pa.C.S. Ch. 67 

16

(relating to domestic and sexual violence victim address

17

confidentiality) may use a substitute address designated by the

Office of Victim Advocate as their address. Applicants for

2

registration of a truck, truck tractor, trailer or bus shall

3

provide the vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), or the

4

Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR), as applicable. If the

5

manufacturer's ratings are not available, the applicant shall

6

provide sufficient information as to the horsepower, braking

7

capacity and such other data as necessary for the department to

8

determine an equivalent measure of the vehicle's hauling and

9

stopping capability. If the applicant wishes to register a

10

vehicle at a registered gross weight less than the gross vehicle

11

weight rating, the application shall include information as to

12

weight, load and any other such information as the department

13

may require. The application shall be accompanied by self-

14

certification of financial responsibility and the applicable

15

fee.
