| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), entitled, |
2 | as amended, "An act relating to counties of the second class |
3 | and second class A; amending, revising, consolidating and |
4 | changing the laws relating thereto," further providing for |
5 | markers on graves, memorial certificates and headstones. |
6 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
7 | hereby enacts as follows: |
8 | Section 1. Section 2113(h) of the act of July 28, 1953 |
9 | (P.L.723, No.230), known as the Second Class County Code, is |
10 | amended to read: |
11 | Section 2113. Markers on Graves; Memorial Certificates; |
12 | Headstones.--* * * |
13 | (h) Each headstone shall contain his or her name and the |
14 | rank and organization to which he or she belonged or in which he |
15 | or she served, in letters raised or cut in at least three- |
16 | sixteenths of an inch deep. The headstone shall be of either |
17 | marble or granite and shall be placed or set in a concrete base |
18 | at least three feet deep, or if a headstone has been provided |

1 | for such grave by the United States Government, the county |
2 | commissioners shall provide the concrete base therefor, or if |
3 | lettering only on an existing memorial is desired by the family, |
4 | the county commissioners shall provide such lettering. Amounts |
5 | charged for the concrete base shall not exceed the sum of two |
6 | hundred fifty dollars ($250). |

8 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
