| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, further providing for duties of the Pennsylvania |
3 | Turnpike Commission as to other interstate highways. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 8915.5 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: |
8 | § 8915.5. Other interstate highways. |
9 | In order to facilitate vehicular traffic across this |
10 | Commonwealth and pursuant to the authority granted under this |
11 | chapter, the commission is hereby authorized and [empowered to] |
12 | shall: |
13 | (1) at its own expense and in consultation with the |
14 | department, prepare a consulting civil engineer report and |
15 | financial analysis with respect to the feasibility of |
16 | converting [any] all interstate [highway] highways or |
17 | interstate highway [segment] segments in this Commonwealth to |
18 | [a toll road] toll roads or adding to said interstates |

1 | additional capacity projects financed by tolls; and |
2 | (2) at its own expense and in consultation with the |
3 | department and with approval of the General Assembly, prepare |
4 | and submit [an application] applications to the United States |
5 | Department of Transportation for the conversion of [any |
6 | interstate] all interstates or interstate [segment] segments |
7 | in this Commonwealth determined to be eligible for conversion |
8 | to a toll road under any applicable Federal program. |
9 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
