  BURDICK, DEVLIN, DINGFELDER, EDWARDS, HASS, JOHNSON, METSGER,
  MONNES ANDERSON, MONROE, MORRISETTE, MORSE, NELSON, ROSENBAUM,
  SHIELDS, STARR, VERGER, WHITSETT, WINTERS

  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Oregon
National Guard has a storied tradition of service to Oregon and
to this country; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team consists of the
Oregon National Guard's oldest units, tracing its roots to 1846;
and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, on May 4, 2009,
mobilized for training before deployment to Iraq under the
command of Colonel Dan Hokanson; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team has deployed
approximately 3,400 troops to Iraq since May 2009; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team's current
deployment is the longest deployment of Oregon National Guard
troops since World War II, when it earned the name 'Jungleers '
and received three Distinguished Unit Citations; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, under the
command of Brigadier General Douglas Pritt, in the spring of 2006
joined personnel serving in Afghanistan, marking its first major
deployment to a combat zone since World War II; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina in September 2005, served as part of Task
Force Oregon in relief and security efforts near the French
Quarter in New Orleans; and
  Whereas the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team will return to
Oregon from Iraq in May 2010; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Oregon:

  That we, the members of the Senate of the Seventy-fifth
Legislative Assembly, in special legislative session assembled,
extend our gratitude to the brave citizen soldiers of the 41st
Infantry Brigade Combat Team and their families for their
sacrifices made during their deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan;
and be it further
  Resolved, That the May 8, 2010, celebration of Military Family
Appreciation Day is dedicated to the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat
Team.
