It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Recognizes and honors achievements of football programs of University of Oregon and Oregon State University during 2009 season. CONCURRENT RESOLUTION Whereas the 2009 football programs of the University of Oregon and Oregon State University experienced outstanding seasons in the Pac-10 Conference; and Whereas the efforts of both programs propelled the State of Oregon into the national limelight; and Whereas both Oregon and Oregon State were recognized in the nation's top-25 rankings during much of the season; and Whereas on December 3, 2009, Oregon and Oregon State met for the 113th time in the annual Civil War game; and Whereas for the first time in Civil War history the two teams played for the right to represent the Pac-10 Conference at the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, California; and Whereas both teams played the game with pride, determination and honor; and Whereas Oregon won the game 37-33 in one of the most outstanding contests in the 113-year history of the rivalry; and Whereas Oregon represented the State of Oregon in the Rose Bowl and Oregon State represented the State of Oregon in the Las Vegas Bowl while finishing first and second in the Pac-10 race; and Whereas Oregon Coach Chip Kelly was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year and Oregon State, coached by Mike Riley, had seven players named to the All-Pac-10 first team, which is more than any other school; and Whereas their efforts, conduct and exemplary play brought pride to all Oregonians; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: That we, the members of the Seventy-fifth Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon, in special legislative session assembled, on behalf of all Oregonians, recognize, honor and celebrate the achievements of the football programs of the University of Oregon and Oregon State University; and be it further Resolved, That a copy of this resolution shall be presented to each team as an expression of our esteem, admiration and continued best wishes for success. ----------
