                       HOUSE AMENDMENTS TO
                         HOUSE BILL 4026

  After line 15 of the printed bill, insert:
  '  { +  SECTION 3. + } ORS 2.540, as amended by section 1 of
this 2012 Act, is amended to read:
  ' 2.540. (1) The Court of Appeals shall consist of   { - 13 - }
 { +  16 + } judges.
  ' (2) A judge of the Court of Appeals shall be an elector of
the county of the residence of the judge and be admitted to the
practice of law in this state.
  ' (3) Each judge of the Court of Appeals shall hold office for
a term of six years and until a successor is elected and
qualified.
  '  { +  SECTION 4. + }  { + (1) The amendments to ORS 2.540 by
section 3 of this 2012 Act become operative October 1, 2015.
  ' (2) As soon as possible after the amendments to ORS 2.540 by
section 3 of this 2012 Act become operative, the Governor shall
appoint persons to serve on the Court of Appeals in the positions
created by the amendments to ORS 2.540 by section 3 of this 2012
Act until successors are elected and qualified. + } ' .
