                             SUMMARY

The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.

  Prohibits holder of off-premises sales license from selling
alcoholic beverages by means that avoid or allow avoidance of
cashier participation in transaction.
  Makes violation subject to maximum of $6,250 fine, one years'
imprisonment, or both.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 471. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + (1) As used in this section, 'self-checkout
system' means an automated or customer-operated point of sale
that avoids or allows the avoidance of active and direct
participation in the purchase transaction by a cashier.
  (2) The holder of an off-premises sales license may not allow a
customer to purchase alcoholic beverages through the use of a
self-checkout system. + }
