| In memory of Neil Armstrong. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and many friends of Neil Armstrong on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and |
| WHEREAS, Although there are no words to ease the sadness now felt, surely there is solace in having been touched by such an outstanding person as Neil Armstrong. The love, compassion, and understanding he so readily extended to others will long remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew him; and |
| WHEREAS, Neil Armstrong left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and he will long be remembered as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and an astronaut with NASA, he served as the commander of Apollo 11, making history on July 20, 1969, when he became the first man to walk on the moon, saying "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." During his career, he also served as a test pilot, an engineer, and a deputy associate administrator for aeronautics at NASA, an aerospace engineering teacher at the University of Cincinnati, a farmer, and the chairman of Computing Technologies for Aviation, Inc., and AIL Systems, Inc., and he left a legacy that will surely live on; and |
| WHEREAS, Neil Armstrong's personal sacrifices of time and energy to his family, his friends, his community, the State of Ohio, and the United States will certainly live beyond him, and he will long be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering commitment to service. Though the void his death has created can never be filled, the warmth and understanding that he so readily extended to others will stand as a testament to his personal character, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him, including his wife, Carol, and his two sons; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of a truly honorable man, Neil Armstrong; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Neil Armstrong. |
