A RESOLUTION
In memory of Harley E. Rouda, Sr.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Harley E. Rouda, Sr., and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and

       WHEREAS,  Harley Rouda left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he founded HER Realtors in 1956, and he was known as a leader in the industry, serving in such posts as chair of the National Association of Realtors and president of the Ohio Association and Columbus Board of Realtors. Also active with other organizations, including the Fannie Mae National Advisory Council and the Arthur James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, he was the recipient of various accolades, and he will be remembered for his generosity, talents, and seemingly inexhaustible passion; and

       WHEREAS,  Harley Rouda's regard for improving the quality of life in our society was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of time and effort to family, friends, and community. Giving generously of his energy and abilities in all of his endeavors, he displayed exceptional concern and insight, and his absence will be keenly felt; and

       WHEREAS,  A loving husband to his wife, Marlese, a devoted father to his four children, Greer, Leslie, Scott, and Harley, and the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Bradley, Jessi, Kristin, Austin, Harley, Avery, Shea, and Dylan, Harley Rouda always used his talents to the benefit of others, and the warmth and understanding that he readily extended to those around him will stand as a testament to his personal character. Although the void his death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and commitment that he established will surely live on; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of Harley E. Rouda, Sr., and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a truly unique individual; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Harley E. Rouda, Sr.
