129th General Assembly
Regular Session
2011-2012
S. R. No. 291

Senator Beagle

A RESOLUTION
Honoring Standard Register on its Centennial.

WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize Standard Register on the One Hundredth Anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS,  Celebration of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to Standard Register, for throughout the past ten decades, it has achieved a remarkable record of service to the area. Established by John Sherman in 1912, the company was dedicated to manufacturing and marketing an autographic register that was invented and later patented by Theodore F. Schirmer in 1909, and its accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the business itself but also on its astute management, on its hard-working staff, and on the entire Greater Dayton community; and

WHEREAS,  By expanding its product lines, as well as its facilities, and advancing with technology, Standard Register has enhanced the quality of life in our society, and its generous contributions have earned it the gratitude and respect of many. We are certain that as this company maintains its dedication to service, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has become its hallmark; and

WHEREAS,  The founders of Standard Register epitomized America's entrepreneurial spirit, and it is through the contributions of people such as these that our state has gained a reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place to establish a business. We have no doubt that this worthy enterprise will continue to prosper; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Standard Register on its Centennial and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Standard Register.

I, Vincent L. Keeran, hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of Senate Resolution No. 291, adopted by the Ohio Senate, June 19, 2012.
