A BILL
To enact sections 5529.07 and 5537.35 of the Revised 1
Code to require certain flags to be displayed at 2
rest areas along the state's interstates and the 3
Ohio Turnpike.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That sections 5529.07 and 5537.35 of the Revised 5
Code be enacted to read as follows:6

       Sec. 5529.07. (A) The director of transportation shall 7
display the following flags at each rest area that is along the 8
interstate system located within this state:9

       (1) The flag of the United States;10

       (2) The flag of Ohio;11

       (3) The flag that depicts the profile of a prisoner of war 12
against the background of a prisoner of war camp watchtower, 13
commonly known as the POW/MIA flag.14

       (B) In purchasing flags to comply with division (A) of this 15
section, the director shall, to the maximum extent possible, 16
conform to the preference requirements of sections 125.09 and 17
125.11 of the Revised Code and all rules adopted under those 18
sections to ensure the purchase and use of products made in Ohio 19
and the United States.20

       Sec. 5537.35. (A) The Ohio turnpike commission shall display 21
the following flags at each rest area that is along the turnpike:22

       (1) The flag of the United States;23

       (2) The flag of Ohio;24

       (3) The flag that depicts the profile of a prisoner of war 25
against the background of a prisoner of war camp watchtower, 26
commonly known as the POW/MIA flag.27

       (B) In purchasing flags to comply with division (A) of this 28
section, the turnpike commission shall, to the maximum extent 29
possible, conform to the preference requirements of sections 30
125.09 and 125.11 of the Revised Code and all rules adopted under 31
those sections to ensure the purchase and use of products made in 32
Ohio and the United States.33
