A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To urge the selection committee of the Professional 1
Football Hall of Fame to choose Dick Schafrath for 2
induction into the Professional Football Hall of 3
Fame.4


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS, The members of the 129th General Assembly of the 5
State of Ohio are pleased to support the induction of Dick 6
Schafrath into the Professional Football Hall of Fame; and7

       WHEREAS, Dick Schafrath is, indeed, deserving of induction 8
into the Professional Football Hall of Fame for it would be a 9
fitting tribute to his numerous accomplishments in the sport of 10
football. He was an offensive lineman with the Cleveland Browns 11
for 13 seasons from 1959 to 1971, and, throughout that time, the 12
team never had a losing season, compiling a record of 59-23-2 and 13
winning five conference or division titles and a national 14
championship. During his career, Dick Schafrath blocked for such 15
Hall of Fame running backs as Jim Brown, Bobby Mitchell, and LeRoy 16
Kelly, and he was named a National Football League All-Pro for six 17
consecutive years; and18

       WHEREAS, Dick Schafrath is a remarkable individual because he 19
successfully combined talent and competitive spirit with the 20
highest ideals of good sportsmanship to become a truly exceptional 21
athlete. He is certainly deserving of high praise; and22

       WHEREAS, Dick Schafrath's record of personal and professional 23
achievement stands as a hallmark worthy of emulation, and he has 24
inspired countless individuals to excel in numerous areas of 25
endeavor. With or without national acclaim, his accomplishments 26
and leadership are a justifiable source of pride not only for him, 27
but also for his family, his community, and the Cleveland Browns; 28
now therefore be it29

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 129th General Assembly 30
of the State of Ohio, in adopting this resolution, salute Dick 31
Schafrath and encourage the selection committee of the 32
Professional Football Hall of Fame to acknowledge his efforts by 33
inducting him; and be it further34

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 35
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to Dick 36
Schafrath, the selection committee of the Professional Football 37
Hall of Fame, and the news media of Ohio.38
