        Introduced  by  Sen.  MURPHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
        AN ACT to amend the election law,  in  relation  to  prohibiting  parole
          officers from assisting parolees to register to vote
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new  section  5-217
     2  to read as follows:
     3    §  5-217.  Registration; assistance by parole officers prohibited.  No
     4  person acting as a parole officer in this state shall provide to a paro-
     5  lee, or have the responsibility to  provide  to  a  parolee,  any  voter
     6  registration  forms, related documents, assistance with the registration
     7  process or other information related to voter  registration,  including,
     8  but  not limited to, information regarding the location of a local board
     9  of elections.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
