        Introduced  by Sen. KAMINSKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government

        AN ACT in relation to extending the  boundaries  of  the  Woodmere  fire
          district to include the village of Woodsburgh

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of article 11 of the town law
     2  to the contrary, upon the expiration of the contract between the village
     3  of Woodsburgh, in the county of Nassau, and the Woodmere fire  district,
     4  providing  for  fire  protection  and  emergency  response  by such fire
     5  district within such village, the town board of the town of Hempstead is
     6  authorized in accordance with the provisions of subdivision 2 of section
     7  170 of the town law, to extend  the  boundaries  of  the  Woodmere  fire
     8  district  to  include  the village of Woodsburgh in its entirety for the
     9  purposes of providing fire protection and emergency response within such
    10  village.
    11    § 2. Upon the extension by the town board of the town of Hempstead  of
    12  the  Woodmere  fire  district  to  include the village of Woodsburgh, in
    13  accordance with section one of this act, such  fire  district  and  town
    14  board  shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law,
    15  and shall continue to have all powers, duties and responsibilities vest-
    16  ed in and imposed upon such districts and towns pursuant to  article  11
    17  of the town law, and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto.
    18    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
