        AN ACT in relation to  providing  that  certain  schools  shall  receive
          tuition  payments  from  the state for any period of time such schools
          are required to close in  response  to  the  outbreak  of  coronavirus
          disease 2019 (COVID-19)

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of articles 81, 85 and 89 of
     2  the education law, 8 NYCRR 175.6(b)(4) or any other  provision  of  law,
     3  rule or regulation to the contrary, any school created pursuant to chap-
     4  ter  853  of the laws of 1976 and commonly referred to as an 853 school,
     5  any institution set forth in section 4201 of the education law providing
     6  instruction for the deaf or the blind, any provider of special education
     7  services or programs pursuant to section  4410 of the education law  and
     8  any  special  act  school  district  shall  continue  to receive tuition
     9  payments from the state for any period of time such schools are required
    10  to close in  response  to  the  outbreak  of  coronavirus  disease  2019
    11  (COVID-19).
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
