STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7790 IN SENATE February 20, 2020 ___________ Introduced by Sen. AMEDORE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to qualifications for holding the office of corporation counsel in the city of Amsterdam The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 70 to read as follows: 3 70. In the city of Amsterdam, in the county of Montgomery, the 4 provisions of this section requiring a person to be a resident of the 5 political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he 6 or she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions are 7 required to be exercised, shall not prevent a person from holding the 8 office of corporation counsel in the city of Amsterdam, provided that 9 such person resides in Montgomery county or an adjoining county within 10 the state of New York; provided, however that any person performing such 11 functions or holding such office in any other city shall be a resident 12 of such city unless otherwise provided by law. 13 § 2.
