STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7755 IN SENATE May 12, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT relating to the eligibility of Earnest Cawley Jr. to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police offi- cer in the town of Colchester, in the county of Delaware and to be placed on the eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil 2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Earnest 3 Cawley Jr., who has continuously served as a part-time police officer 4 for the village of Cooperstown, village of Walton, and the town of 5 Colchester, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service 6 examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent 7 upon his scores on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the 8 eligibility list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the 9 town of Colchester. 10 § 2. Earnest Cawley Jr. shall otherwise be subject to the merit and 11 fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time 12 police officers. 13 § 3.
