MARCELLINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to authorize Muslims on Long Island, Inc. to retroactively apply for real property tax exemptions for certain properties in Bethpage, town of Oyster Bay, county of Nassau THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the county of Nassau is hereby authorized to accept from 3 Muslims on Long Island, Inc. applications or renewal applications for 4 exemptions from real property taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the 5 real property tax law for part of the 2010-2011 assessment roll, and the 6 2011-2012 assessment roll, for the parcel owned by such not-for-profit 7 corporation which is located at 300 Central Avenue, Bethpage, in the 8 town of Oyster Bay, county of Nassau, otherwise known as Nassau county 9 section 46, block 112, lot 9. If accepted, the applications or renewal 10 applications shall be reviewed as if they had been received on or before 11 the taxable status date established for such roll. 12 If satisfied that such not-for-profit organization would otherwise be 13 entitled to such exemptions if such not-for-profit organization had 14 filed applications or renewal applications for exemptions by the appro- 15 priate taxable status date, the assessor, upon approval by the Oyster 16 Bay town board, may make appropriate correction to the subject roll. If 17 such exemptions are granted and such organization, therefore, shall have 18 paid any taxes with respect to the subject roll, the applicable govern- 19 ing body or tax department may, in its sole discretion, provide for the 20 refund of those taxes paid and cancel those taxes, fines, penalties, 21 liens, or interest remaining unpaid. 22 S 2.
