BOYLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to the disposal of drugs, drug disposal sites and home pharmaceutical collection THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 19.09 of the mental hygiene law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision (i) to read as follows: 3 (I) (1) THE OFFICE, IN COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRON- 4 MENTAL CONSERVATION, SHALL POST ON THE OFFICE WEBSITE INFORMATION WHICH 5 INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE REQUIRED STEPS AND GUIDELINES FOR ANY 6 MUNICIPALITY, PHARMACY, LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY, OR COMMUNITY GROUP 7 TO CONDUCT A HOUSEHOLD PHARMACEUTICAL COLLECTION EVENT. 8 (2) PURSUANT TO SECTION 27-2703 OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONVERSATION LAW, 9 AS ADDED BY CHAPTER SIX HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE OF THE LAWS OF TWO THOUSAND 10 EIGHT, THE COMMISSIONER, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT MAY ASSIST 11 IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM ON THE PROPER 12 DISPOSAL OF DRUGS AND DRUG DISPOSAL SITES. THE OFFICE SHALL DISSEMINATE 13 SUCH INFORMATION BY ANY MEANS DEEMED APPROPRIATE BY THE COMMISSIONER. 14 S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after 15 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- 16 ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- 17 tation of this act on its effective date is authorized to be made on or 18 before such date.
