          printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education

        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to  remote  programs  for
          mandatory continuing education

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 6505-e
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 6505-e. Remote programs for  mandatory  continuing  education.    1.
     4  Whenever  the  practice  of  a profession which is licensed by the state
     5  shall require the completion  of  mandatory  continuing  education,  any
     6  program  designed  and  approved  to  fulfill  such requirement which is
     7  offered to be delivered electronically or by other  remote  means  where
     8  the  licensee must provide proof of attendance by responding to a visual
     9  or auditory prompt in the program  shall  conform  to  the  most  recent
    10  guidelines for website content accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
    11    2.  A  civil  penalty  of one thousand dollars may be imposed for each
    12  violation of this section.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    14  have become a law.
