STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6645 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN SENATE May 11, 2021 ___________ Introduced by Sen. STAVISKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to allowing for a limited permit to be obtained to practice as a chiropractor The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 6557 2 to read as follows: 3 § 6557. Limited permits. 1. The department shall issue a limited 4 permit to an applicant who meets all requirements for eligibility and 5 admission to the chiropractic part III clinical competence licensing 6 examination. 7 2. All practice of chiropractic conducted under a limited permit shall 8 be under the supervision of a licensed chiropractor or other licensed 9 medical provider in a public hospital, an incorporated hospital or clin- 10 ic, a licensed proprietary hospital, a licensed nursing home, a public 11 health agency, a recognized public or non-public school setting, the 12 office of a licensed chiropractor, or in the civil service of the state 13 or political subdivision thereof. 14 3. Limited permits shall be valid for a period of one year and the 15 department may, for justifiable cause, renew a limited permit provided 16 that no applicant shall practice under any limited permit for more than 17 a total of two years. 18 4. Supervision of a permittee by a licensed chiropractor shall be 19 on-site supervision and not necessarily direct personal supervision. 20 5. The fee for each limited permit and for each renewal shall be fifty 21 dollars. 22 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
