STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6526--A 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE June 14, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. O'MARA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Private Charles S. Cooper, Jr. Memo- rial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-i to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-i. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Private Charles S. Cooper, Jr. Memorial Highway". All that portion of 5 the state highway system constituting state route sixty in the town of 6 Kiantone, county of Chautauqua, beginning at the Jamestown city line, 7 continuing in a generally southeasterly direction, and terminating at 8 the intersection with state route sixty-two, shall be designated and 9 known as the "Private Charles S. Cooper, Jr. Memorial Highway". 10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 12 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 13 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 14 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 15 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 16 changed as a result of this act. 17 § 3.
