        Introduced by Sens. MARCHIONE, FARLEY -- read twice and ordered printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation --
          reported  favorably  from  said committee, ordered to first and second
          report, ordered to a third reading,  amended  and  ordered  reprinted,
          retaining its place in the order of third reading -- again amended and
          ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading
        AN  ACT  to amend the highway law, in relation to the designation of the
          "United States Submarine Veterans' Memorial Highway-Saratoga County"
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to
     2  read as follows:
     3    §  344-e.  Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the
     4  "United States Submarine Veterans'  Memorial  Highway-Saratoga  County".
     5  That  portion  of  the  state  highway system constituting United States
     6  route 9 in Saratoga county, commencing from the Albany  county  line  to
     7  the  Warren  county  line  shall  be designated and known as the "United
     8  States Submarine Veterans' Memorial Highway-Saratoga County".
     9    § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the  instal-
    10  lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
    11  as designated pursuant to section one of this  act.  However,  to  avoid
    12  confusion  and  to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig-
    13  nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of  a
    14  ceremonial  nature  and  the  official name of such highway shall not be
    15  changed as a result of this act.
    16    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
