STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6458 IN SENATE January 13, 2016 ___________ Introduced by Sen. LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the review of licen- sure standards for architecture and landscape architecture The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 7309 2 to read as follows: 3 § 7309. Review of licensure standards. The department, in consultation 4 with the state board for architecture, shall conduct periodic reviews of 5 the existing standards for licensure to determine if such standards 6 should be updated to reflect changes to the professional preparation of 7 architects. The department shall submit a report with its findings and 8 recommendations to the legislature and the governor beginning on April 9 first, two thousand seventeen, and every five years thereafter. 10 § 2. The education law is amended by adding a new section 7329 to read 11 as follows: 12 § 7329. Review of licensure standards. The department, in consultation 13 with the state board for landscape architecture, shall conduct periodic 14 reviews of the existing standards for licensure to determine if such 15 standards should be updated to reflect changes to the professional prep- 16 aration of landscape architects. The department shall submit a report 17 with its findings and recommendations to the legislature and the gover- 18 nor beginning on April first, two thousand seventeen, and every five 19 years thereafter. 20 § 3.
