       AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to limiting  the  expendi-
         tures by candidates for senate and assembly
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section  14-105
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  14-105.  LIMIT  EXPENDITURES  BY SENATE AND ASSEMBLY CAMPAIGNS.  1.
    4  NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISIONS OF LAW, ANY CANDIDATE FOR SENATE IS
    5  PROHIBITED FROM SPENDING MORE THAN THREE HUNDRED  THOUSAND  DOLLARS  AND
    6  ANY  CANDIDATE  FOR  ASSEMBLY  IS PROHIBITED FROM SPENDING MORE THAN ONE
    7  HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND  DOLLARS  ON  AN  ELECTION  FOR  SUCH  RESPECTIVE
    8  OFFICE.
    9    2.  THE  STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS SHALL PROMULGATE ANY RULES AND REGU-
   10  LATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS SECTION.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
