         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- reported
         favorably from said committee, ordered to  first  and  second  report,
         ordered  to  a  third  reading,  passed by Senate and delivered to the
         Assembly, recalled, vote  reconsidered,  restored  to  third  reading,
         amended  and  ordered  reprinted,  retaining its place in the order of
         third reading
       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
         the state highway system as the "Canadice Veterans Memorial Highway"
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to
    2  read as follows:
    3    S  344-D.  PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
    4  "CANADICE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL  THAT  PORTION  OF  THE  STATE
    5  HIGHWAY  SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE FIFTEEN A IN THE TOWN OF CANAD-
    6  ICE, COUNTY OF ONTARIO, BEGINNING AT THE LIVONIA AND CANADICE TOWN LINE,
    7  CONTINUING IN A GENERALLY SOUTHERLY DIRECTION, AND  TERMINATING  AT  THE
    8  CANADICE AND SPRINGWATER TOWN LINE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE
    9  "CANADICE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
   10    S  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
   11  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
   12  as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
   13  confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig-
   14  nation  called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere-
   15  monial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed
   16  as a result of this act.
   17    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
