         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- reported
         favorably from said committee, ordered to  first  and  second  report,
         ordered  to  a  third  reading,  passed by Senate and delivered to the
         Assembly, recalled, vote  reconsidered,  restored  to  third  reading,
         amended  and  ordered  reprinted,  retaining its place in the order of
         third reading
       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
         the state highway system as the "Marine Captain Eric A. Jones Memorial
         Highway"
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to
    2  read as follows:
    3    S  344-D.  PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
    4  "MARINE CAPTAIN ERIC A. JONES MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE
    5  STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE ONE  HUNDRED  THIRTY-SEVEN
    6  IN  THE  TOWN  OF  POUND  RIDGE, COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, BEGINNING AT THE
    7  INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE ONE  HUNDRED  THIRTY-SEVEN  AND  WESTCHESTER
    8  AVENUE, CONTINUING IN A GENERALLY SOUTHERLY DIRECTION ON STATE ROUTE ONE
    9  HUNDRED  THIRTY-SEVEN,  AND  TERMINATING AT THE NEW YORK AND CONNECTICUT
   10  STATE BOUNDARY, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN  AS  THE  "MARINE  CAPTAIN
   11  ERIC A. JONES MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
   12    S  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
   13  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
   14  as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
   15  confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig-
   16  nation  called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere-
   17  monial nature and the official name of such shall not be  changed  as  a
   18  result of this act.
   19    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
