LAVALLE, CROCI, GALLIVAN, HELMING, LATIMER, RANZEN- HOFER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first and second report, ordered to a third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading -- again amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading -- again amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the New York state masters-in-education teacher incentive scholarship program The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 669-f of the education law, as 2 added by section 1 of subpart A of part EE of chapter 56 of the laws of 3 2015, is amended to read as follows: 4 1. Eligibility. Students who are matriculated in an approved master's 5 degree in education program at a New York state [public institution of6higher education] college, as defined in subdivision two of section six 7 hundred one of this title, leading to a career as a teacher in public 8 elementary or secondary education shall be eligible for an award under 9 this section, provided the applicant: (a) earned an undergraduate degree 10 from a college located in New York state; (b) was a New York state resi- 11 dent while earning such undergraduate degree; (c) achieved academic 12 excellence as an undergraduate student, as defined by the corporation in 13 regulation; (d) enrolls in full-time study in an approved master's 14 degree in education program at a New York state [public institution of15higher education] college, as defined in subdivision two of section six 16 hundred one of this title, leading to a career as a teacher in public 17 elementary or secondary education; (e) signs a contract with the corpo- 18 ration agreeing to teach in a classroom setting on a full-time basis for 19 five years in a school located within New York state providing public EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. This act shall take effect immediately.
