The elder law is amended by adding a new section 226 to 2 read as follows: 3 § 226. Office of older adult workforce development. 1. The office 4 shall establish an office of older adult workforce development. Such 5 office of older adult workforce development shall direct the office's 6 senior community service employment program and other employment or 7 workforce development programs, and shall be headed by a coordinator who 8 shall be appointed by the director. The coordinator shall work in 9 consultation with the department of labor in the course of their duties. 10 2. The coordinator of the office of older adult workforce development 11 shall have the following duties: 12 (a) advise and assist the state in planning and implementing for coor- 13 dination and cooperation among agencies involved in workforce develop- 14 ment to address the needs of older adults regarding the workplace; 15 (b) create a centralized website with resources for job placement, 16 career building and development, and job support for older adults; 17 (c) provide information on how to report age discrimination in the 18 workplace, including potential state remedies for such discrimination; EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD04751-04-2S. 555--B 2 1 (d) review information upon request of state agencies regarding 2 complaints concerning age discrimination in the workplace and develop 3 recommendations, guidelines, and protocols to address recurring problems 4 or trends, in consultation with industry representatives, advocates, and 5 state agencies; 6 (e) provide outreach and education on the services provided by the 7 office of older adult workforce development; and 8 (f) perform other duties as the director may assign to the coordina- 9 tor. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
