                   CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY
       proposing  an amendment to article 1 of the constitution, in relation to
         equal pay for equal work
    1    Section 1. Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That article  1  of  the
    2  constitution be amended by adding a new section 17-a to read as follows:
    3    S 17-A. ALL EMPLOYEES SHALL RECEIVE EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK OF COMPA-
    4  RABLE  VALUE,  SKILL, EFFORT, AND RESPONSIBILITY PERFORMED UNDER SIMILAR
    5  WORKING CONDITIONS.  THE PRINCIPLE OF EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK OF COMPA-
    6  RABLE VALUE REQUIRES THAT CONSIDERATION OF SEX, RACE OR NATIONAL  ORIGIN
    7  SHALL NOT INFLUENCE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY THE ESTABLISHMENT OF WAGES OR
    8  SALARIES.
    9    S  2.  Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That the foregoing amendment
   10  be referred to the first regular legislative session convening after the
   11  next succeeding general election of members of  the  assembly,  and,  in
   12  conformity  with  section  1  of  article  19  of  the  constitution, be
   13  published for 3 months previous to the time of such election.
