Assembly Resolution No. 2391 BY: M. of A. Buttenschon HONORING Fire Captain Anthony Zumpano upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 years of distinguished service to the Utica Fire Department WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stature of the State of New York; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Fire Captain Anthony Zumpano upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 years of distinguished service to the Utica Fire Department on Thursday, June 20, 2024; and WHEREAS, For the past 36 years, Captain Anthony Zumpano rendered faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the Utica Fire Department; and WHEREAS, Anthony Zumpano was hired by the Utica Fire Department on May 21, 1988, and diligently worked his way up the ranks, achieving the positions of Fire Lieutenant (2000) and Fire Captain (2009); he also served as a paramedic during his tenure with the department; and WHEREAS, Serving throughout the city, Captain Anthony Zumpano spent the majority of his time at Station No. 7, located in Utica's Oneida Square area; and WHEREAS, In his official acts, Captain Anthony Zumpano was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his beloved wife, Lisa and their three cherished children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and WHEREAS, In his capacity as Captain, Anthony Zumpano always served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Utica Fire Department, Captain Anthony Zumpano earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Fire Captain Anthony Zumpano upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 years of distinguished service to the Utica Fire Department; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Fire Captain Anthony Zumpano.
