        COMMEMORATING  the  40th Annual Michelle Adey Open
        on July 8, 2024, in Rome, New York

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize  that
the  quality  and  character  of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and  dedicated  efforts  of  those
organizations  and  individuals  that  are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  commemorate  the
40th  Annual  Michelle  Adey  Open;  this  auspicious  occasion  will be
celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Teugega Country Club in Rome,
New York; and

  WHEREAS, Michelle Adey, the six-year-old daughter of Mike  Adey  and
Mary Carmel Wolf of Rome, New York, died of cystic fibrosis in 1982; and

  WHEREAS,  The parents of the late Michelle Adey wanted to keep alive
the memory of this beautiful little girl and  assist  other  parents  of
children  with  life-threatening illnesses, knowing the financial burden
of long-term hospitalization, travel expenses and other needs; and

  WHEREAS, The Michelle M. Adey Memorial Fund was established in  1982
and  officially  incorporated in 1985; it is the longest running fund of
its kind in the Central New York area, operating from  Syracuse  to  the
lower Mohawk Valley; and

  WHEREAS, The Michelle Adey Open is an annual golf tournament held in
the  memory  of  Michelle  M.  Adey,  and is the main fundraiser for the
Michelle M. Adey Memorial Fund; in the  last  39  years  it  has  raised
significant   funds   to   assist   the   families   of   children  with
life-threatening illnesses; and

  WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity  for
this  Legislative  Body  to recognize and pay tribute to the 40th Annual
Michelle Adey Open; and

  WHEREAS, It is  the  custom  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments, and which serve to
bring  people  together  for  such glorious purposes, are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of  this  great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Annual Michelle Adey Open in Rome, New York; and be
it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the Michelle Adey Open, Rome, New York.
