Assembly Resolution No. 910 BY: M. of A. Angelino COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of The Raymond Corporation WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The Raymond Corporation; and WHEREAS, The Raymond Corporation is a leading global provider of best-in-class material handling products and intelligent intralogistics solutions; and WHEREAS, The company began in 1922 when Lyon Iron Works in Greene, New York, an iron foundry with beginnings as far back as 1840, was purchased by George Raymond Sr.; and WHEREAS, Built on principles of innovation and continuous improvement for 100 years, Raymond's integrated automation, telematics, virtual reality and advanced energy solutions provide ways to optimize operations and bring warehouse and distribution operations to a new level of performance; and WHEREAS, With a legacy of industry leadership, The Raymond Corporation has an extensive history of introducing innovation that has advanced the material handling industry and set the new industry standards; and WHEREAS, Truly dedicated to continually improving products and introducing solutions to meet customers' evolving needs, The Raymond Corporation patented the first hydraulic hand pallet truck and double-faced wooden pallet in 1939, ultimately fueling the beginning of the material handling industry; and WHEREAS, Over the years, The Raymond Corporation's innovation continued with the narrow aisle concept, still used in warehouses around the world today, then evolving to introduce new forklifts and warehouse solutions to support operations ever-evolving needs; and WHEREAS, Today, The Raymond Corporation continues to deliver intelligent intralogistics solutions to material handling and logistics markets in North America and globally; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, combining operational excellence, award-winning innovation and world-class customer support, The Raymond Corporation and its global network of Solutions and Support Centers have facilitated its customers to optimally manage and run their operations; and WHEREAS, The Raymond Corporation is a business essential to the supply chain serving customers in a variety of business segments including Warehouse and Storage, Wholesale Trade, Health Care, Food and Beverage and Retail Trade; and WHEREAS, The Raymond Corporation has a significant impact on the New York State economy, employing over 2,200 people and its utilization of suppliers located throughout the State; and WHEREAS, The Raymond Corporation's employees have a history of exceptional loyalty and demonstrated talents in developing and manufacturing world-class material handling solutions while working to make their local communities a better place to live; and WHEREAS, The Raymond Corporation has demonstrated its responsibility to be a good steward of the environment and contribute to a more sustainable planet through a variety of efforts including those pertaining to the design and manufacture of electric powered industrial material handling equipment, alternative energy projects with the New York State Energy Research Development Agency and Binghamton University, and development and implementation of an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System; and WHEREAS, The success of The Raymond Corporation is in direct correlation to the efforts of President and CEO Michael Field and his dedicated staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowledges The Raymond Corporation's success, recognizing their contributions to the local and State economies, and extending its highest commendation to their businesses and employees, fully confident that, in their future, they will continue to enjoy the same success which has so characterized their past; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of The Raymond Corporation; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Michael Field, President and CEO, The Raymond Corporation.
