Assembly Resolution No. 294 BY: M. of A. Simpson COMMEMORATING the 40th Anniversary of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those organizations that work to serve the health care needs of citizens of the State of New York; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network; and WHEREAS, The theme for this milestone anniversary, FortyForward, is all about reflecting on the past while focusing on the future as this vital organization envisions the next forty years of accessible health care; most recently, the first Hudson Headwaters Mobile Health center hit the road, providing care for those who are underserved; and WHEREAS, For four decades, this innovative, sustainable and community-focused health system has stayed true to its mission of providing the best health care, and access to that care, for everyone in its communities through comprehensive primary care and diverse partnerships; and WHEREAS, A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Hudson Headwaters Health Network provides care to everyone in the communities it serves, regardless of income or insurance; and WHEREAS, From its humble beginnings of a single health center in Chestertown, Hudson Headwaters Health Network has grown to a network of 21 community health centers providing primary care to more than 7,200 square miles of the Adirondack North Country and Glens Falls region; the network serves all of Warren County and parts of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Saratoga and Washington counties; and WHEREAS, Hudson Headwaters Health Network is the sole medical provider in much of this rural, medically underserved region, and in the Glens Falls area, it is the only primary care "safety-net" provider; their patients are served in Hudson Headwaters' local health centers, in hospitals, nursing homes, work places, schools and in their homes; and WHEREAS, In 2020, Hudson Headwaters Health Network's practitioners cared for more than 1,200 people a day, accounting for about 425,000 patient visits; and WHEREAS, The success of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network is in direct correlation to the efforts of its CEO Dr. Tucker Slingerland, its physicians, nurses and expert staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network in providing excellence in care through prevention, education and treatment, and its evident commitment to this mission; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Dr. Tucker Slingerland, CEO, Hudson Headwaters Health Network.
