        MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
        March  2,  2021,  as  Read Across America Day in the
        State of New York

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of  this  Legislative  Body  to  recognize
official  days  that  are set aside to increase awareness of initiatives
which affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 2, 2021, as  Read
Across  America  Day  in  the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Read Across America Day; and

  WHEREAS, Established in 1997, by the National Education  Association
(NEA),  Read  Across  America  Day  is  an annual reading motivation and
awareness program that calls for  every  child  in  every  community  to
celebrate  reading  on  March  2nd,  the  birthday of beloved children's
author Dr. Seuss; and

  WHEREAS, Read Across America Day also provides NEA members, parents,
caregivers, and children the resources and activities they need to  keep
reading on the calendar 365 days a year; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to help increase
awareness of initiatives which affect the lives of citizens of New  York
State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 2, 2021, as  Read
Across America Day in the State of New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the  State  of
New York.
