Senate Resolution No. 3327 BY: Senator PARKER MOURNING the death of Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams, dedicated mother, loving grandmother, and devoted member of her community WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to residents of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams of Brooklyn, New York, died on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the remarkable age of 103; and WHEREAS, Clarabel Agatha was born on November 12, 1916, to the late Isaac and Marion Dayson; she attended Ketley Congregational School in Georgetown, Guyana, and took several sewing classes; and WHEREAS, A faithful member of The Trinity Methodist Church in Guyana, Ms. Gatha, as she was affectionately known, could be frequently seen attending church services; and WHEREAS, Clarabel Agatha Dayson met the love of her life, Norman James Egerton Williams; they had a wonderful marriage until he passed in 1969; together they had 11 children: the late Shelia, Yvonne, Lloyd, Eileen, Lynette, Olivia, Warren, Raymond, the late Norman, Clement and Michael; Clarabel was also the proud stepmother to Keith, Jennifer and Estwick; and WHEREAS, Forty years ago, Clarabel migrated to America to join her children; she enjoyed traveling to many countries and taking cruises; and WHEREAS, Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams distinguished herself by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community; and WHEREAS, She became a member of Ebenezer Wesleyan Methodist Church, Brooklyn, New York, where she had a warm and sincere relationship with her church family; furthermore, she was a member of the Fort Greene Senior Center, also located in Brooklyn; and WHEREAS, In addition to her parents; her daughter; her son; and six siblings, Harold, Edgar, George, Eric, Herbert, and Muriel, Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams is survived by her nine children, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a son-in-law, daughters-in-law, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives, too many to mention; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams, and to express its deepest condolences to her family; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Clarabel Agatha Dayson-Williams.
