Anniversary of the founding of the St. Lawrence
        County Snowmobile Association

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the founding of the St. Lawrence
County Snowmobile Association; and

WHEREAS, Forty-five years ago, representatives of St. Lawrence
County's snowmobile clubs came together to organize the St. Lawrence
County Snowmobile Association, a not-for-profit, all-volunteer
organization dedicated to helping families enjoy winter recreation
across the County; and

WHEREAS, Numerous volunteers engaged in a collective effort to
develop a safe, family-oriented, countywide system which spanned St.
Lawrence County, the largest county in New York State; and

WHEREAS, Today, the countywide trail system boasts 750 miles of
groomed trails, and connects riders to Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis,
Hamilton and Herkimer Counties, helping them to enjoy the beauty of the
North Country and take part in a pastime which has been a mainstay in
many families for generations; and

WHEREAS, Thanks to the cooperation of hundreds of landowners, St.
Lawrence County's trail system is one of America's premier trail systems
and is a major tourist destination resulting in the creation of
year-round economies for many rural communities that now enjoy bustling
stores, inns, gas stations, restaurants and other businesses which might
not exist today without the efforts of the St. Lawrence County
Snowmobile Association; and

WHEREAS, On its 45th anniversary, we not only look back at the many
accomplishments of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association, we
also look toward the future with excitement and anticipation of what the
coming years will hold for this organization, its members and the
positive impact they will continue to have on the region; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
