Senate Resolution No. 2817 BY: Senator BROOKS COMMENDING Pete Paterson upon the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of dedicated service as First Vice President of the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association on June 9, 2022 WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those esteemed individuals who distinguish themselves in service to the cause of working men and women in the State of New York; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Pete Paterson upon the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of dedicated service as 1st Vice President of the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association, to be celebrated at a Retirement Party on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury, New York; and WHEREAS, Pete Paterson began his long and distinguished career in law enforcement on May 31, 1985, with the 3rd Precinct Patrol in Nassau County; on December 31, 2021, he retired after 36 years of service; and WHEREAS, Always concerned for the well-being of his police brothers and sisters, Pete served as the Delegate of the 3rd Precinct Patrol from January 27, 1992 to January 20, 2005; and WHEREAS, From January 20, 2005 to May 17, 2008, Officer Pete Paterson was the Corresponding Secretary of the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association (PBA); he was then elected to the position of First Vice President of the PBA, the title from which he officially retired on December 29, 2021; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Pete Paterson has displayed throughout his life; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Pete Paterson upon the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of dedicated service as First Vice President of the Nassau County Police Benevolence Association on June 9, 2022, and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Pete Paterson.
