Senate Resolution No. 2484 BY: Senator RITCHIE COMMEMORATING the Centennial Anniversary of the New York State Association of County Clerks WHEREAS, Associations which serve the interests of the people of this Empire State merit the commendation of this Legislative Body; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of the New York State Association of County Clerks; and WHEREAS, The New York State Association of County Clerks was founded on February 25, 1921, in Rochester, New York; and WHEREAS, This all-volunteer organization was formed for the purpose of promoting and improving the service of county clerks offices throughout the state, standardizing fees, monitoring legislation affecting county clerks offices, and encouraging fellowship among the members; and WHEREAS, Following the initial Association of County Clerks meeting in 1921, a summer meeting was held in Lake Pleasant, New York, in 1923, thus beginning a tradition of annual meetings, often attended by local officials, that continued even during World War II; and WHEREAS, The operation of county clerks offices has changed dramatically over time and today's clerks have the challenge of assimilating ever-changing technology while maintaining their responsibility as the keeper of records for land transactions and court proceedings, as well as the elected official responsible for managing the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on behalf of New York State; and WHEREAS, Staying true to its original mission, the New York State Association of County Clerks strives to provide leadership to county clerks offices throughout the state through its advocacy, and the sharing of collective knowledge and best practices, allowing New York's county clerks to speak with one voice; and WHEREAS, The success of the New York State Association of County Clerks is in direct correlation to the efforts of its President and its members, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of the New York State Association of County Clerks; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the Honorable Michael C. Bartolotti, Putnam County Clerk and President, New York State Association of County Clerks.
