Senate Resolution No. 2484 BY: Senator JACOBS MOURNING the death of Michael D. Capriotto, renowned businessman, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow that this Legislative Body, representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this day to pay tribute to an eminent man of indomitable faith and dedication whose public service and countless accomplishments will forever stand as a paradigm and inspiration for others; and WHEREAS, Michael D. Capriotto of Orchard Park, New York, died on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the age of 63; and WHEREAS, Born on October 6, 1956, in Lackawanna, New York, Michael D. Capriotto is the son of the late Carmelo and Vengenzina (Pietrantonio) Capriotto; and WHEREAS, Michael D. Capriotto owned Bauer Service, an auto shop located across from Town Hall previously owned by his father and uncle; and WHEREAS, This extraordinary businessman later converted the service shop into Bauer's Village Center which now hosts a Kwik Fill gas station, Tim Horton's cafe, a Subway restaurant, and an electric bike retail shop called Pedego Buffalo; and WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his community and its residents, Michael D. Capriotto served as a village trustee, and was instrumental in restoring the town's historic train depot and reviving Veterans Memorial Park in the village; and WHEREAS, A true pillar in his community, Michael D. Capriotto's impact on the Village of Orchard Park, went far beyond the businesses he owned, giving tirelessly of his time, energy and resources to countless local organizations; and WHEREAS, Michael D. Capriotto is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; three children, Jenny (Jason), John (Nancy) and Catherine; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel and Joseph; a brother, Carmen (Ann); two sisters, Brenda (John) and Carole Ann (Timothy); and two aunts, Mary and Anna; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews; and WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of compassion, Michael D. Capriotto leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to mourn the death of Michael D. Capriotto, renowned businessman, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the family of Michael D. Capriotto.
