Senate Resolution No. 1836 BY: Senator HELMING CONGRATULATING Ryan Fishback upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Championship on June 1, 2019 WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Ryan Fishback upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Championship on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York; and WHEREAS, A standout tennis player for the Geneva High School Tennis Team, Ryan Fishback was proudly crowned the NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Champion, becoming the first Section V Boys Champion since 2015; and WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family, friends and teammates, Ryan Fishback defeated the second place finisher from Syosset High School in three sets 6-0, 3-6, 6-2; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as tennis, which demands athletic prowess, speed and agility, Coach Bill Hadsell worked hard to hone the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the court; and WHEREAS, Ryan Fishback has clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Ryan Fishback upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Championship on June 1, 2019; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Ryan Fishback and Coach Bill Hadsell.
