Senate Resolution No. 1677

        COMMEMORATING  the  dedication  of  the  Brentwood
        Baseball Field Bullpen in honor of the  late  Andrew
        L. Gurgitano on June 1, 2019

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative Body to honor an
extraordinary young man of indomitable faith and dedication whose short,
yet purposeful life will long serve as a standard to which others  might
aspire; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate  the  dedication  of the Brentwood Baseball Field Bullpen in
honor of the late Andrew L. Gurgitano on June 1, 2019; and

  WHEREAS, Born to Susan (Dunn) and Sergio "Fabian" Gurgitano,  Andrew
Louis  Gurgitano  grew  up  in a loving home in West Harrison, New York,
with his two sisters, Marisa Anne and Ava Nicole; and

  WHEREAS, From an early age, Andrew L. Gurgitano could often be found
with a baseball mitt on his hand; he played Little League  at  Brentwood
Park, and later, became a star left pitcher for the Harrison High School
Boys Varsity Baseball Team; and

  WHEREAS,  After  his  tragic and untimely death on November 8, 2014,
Andrew L. Gurgitano's family decided to honor their  16-year  old  son's
legacy  by  hosting  a  golf  outing  to  raise  funds for the Brentwood
Baseball Field and other baseball/softball projects in Harrison; and

  WHEREAS, Now in its 5th year, the  Andrew  Gurgitano  Memorial  Golf
Outing  will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, with proceeds benefitting
the Brentwood Field Renovation Project; through their open and  generous
hearts,  the  Gurgitano Family has and will continue to pay just tribute
to their talented son's memory; and

  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  short  yet  purposeful  life,  Andrew  L.
Gurgitano  made many strong contributions to his community, serving as a
role model for his peers;  with  his  commitment  to  others,  he  truly
represented  the  best development of the potential which is inherent in
our most precious resource, our youth; and

  WHEREAS, Andrew L. Gurgitano, a young man of incredible  spirit  and
enthusiasm,  brought  enduring  honor  to  his  family  through his many
achievements; his shining light and strength will  forever  serve  as  a
beacon  of  love  and hope for all who were privileged to have known and
loved such an amazing and dynamic young man; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commemorate  the  dedication  of the Brentwood Baseball Field Bullpen in
honor of the late Andrew L. Gurgitano on June 1, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Andrew L. Gurgitano.
