Assembly Resolution No. 458

        COMMEMORATING  the  30th Anniversary of Keep Islip
        Clean to be celebrated on May 16, 2019

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  commend  those
illustrious  organizations  of  the  State  of  New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of  life  in  their
communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Keep Islip Clean to be celebrated on
Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Brookwood Hall, East Islip, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  Founded  in  1989 as a certified affiliate of the national
organization Keep America Beautiful, Keep  Islip  Clean  enhances  every
hamlet  within the Town of Islip through litter cleanup, beautification,
recycling and education; and

  WHEREAS, For three decades, Keep Islip Clean has  tirelessly  worked
to  improve  the  beauty  of  its  shared  communities and health of the
environment through its  numerous  programs  and  activities,  including
Adopt-A-Highway/Adopt-A-Spot,   Great  American  Cleanup,  International
Coastal  Cleanup,  Project  Bloom,  Community  Garden  Vegetable  Plots,
Commissioners   Board,  Junior  Commissioner  Program,  Waste  in  Place
Curriculum  designed  for  grade  school  students,  recycling   drives,
seasonal  community  cleanups,  beautification  initiatives, educational
presentations and more; and

  WHEREAS, This vital organization is supported by Commissioners,  who
are  volunteers  from each of Islip's 18 hamlets and who represent their
hometown to exchange ideas on how to best  accomplish  KIC's  objectives
and bring solutions back to their communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Under  the  able  leadership  of  Executive Director Nancy
Cochran, Keep Islip Clean has demonstrated  continuous  service  to  the
residents and communities which it serves; and

  WHEREAS, The success of Keep Islip Clean is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its selfless volunteers, whose involvement is, and always
has  been,  characterized  by  an  impressive  commitment,  an unbridled
enthusiasm,  and  an  uncompromising  standard  of  excellence  in   all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

  WHEREAS,  This  auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Keep Islip Clean; and

  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought  to  our  attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Keep Islip Clean to be celebrated on
May 16, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Executive  Director  Nancy  Cochran,  Keep  Islip  Clean,
Islip, New York.
