Senate Resolution No. 1026

        CONGRATULATING  the  Plattsburgh State Women's Ice
        Hockey Team upon the occasion of capturing the  NCAA
        Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship

  WHEREAS,  Individual  and team championships are highly sought after
in collegiate sports;  this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements  and  pays  special  recognition  to  those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

  WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both  the  moral  and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Plattsburgh State Women's Ice Hockey Team upon the occasion of capturing
the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship; and

  WHEREAS, To the praise and  applause  of  their  excited  fans,  the
Cardinals  defeated  Hamline  University  in  a 4-0 victory on Saturday,
March 16, 2019, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to win the Championship; and

  WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors, family,  friends,  and
the  community  at  large  loyally  and  enthusiastically  supported the
Cardinals throughout their journey as they ended their  season  with  an
impressive 29-2-0 overall record, which tied the program record for most
wins in a season; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Cardinals  tradition of excellence continued with its
eighth consecutive  and  13th  overall  appearance  in  the  Final  Four
national semi-final round; and

  WHEREAS,  The Plattsburgh State Women's Ice Hockey Team continues to
hold the distinction as the all-time leader in NCAA Division III Women's
Ice Hockey with seven national championships; and

  WHEREAS, In a sport such  as  ice  hockey,  which  demands  athletic
prowess,  speed  and  agility,  Head  Coach  Kevin  Houle and his expert
coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove  invaluable
both on and off the ice; and

  WHEREAS,  Coach Kevin Houle, Assistant Coach Danielle Blanchard, and
all of the outstanding athletes on the  Plattsburgh  State  Women's  Ice
Hockey Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork
in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is
a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Plattsburgh  State  Women's  Ice  Hockey
Team: Ashley Davis, Holly Schmelzer, Erin Mcardle, Sierra Benjamin, Maci
Hoskins,  Jen  Manning,  Moe  Tsukimoto,  Sarah  Wolf, Mackenzie Millen,

Ashley Songin, Natalia Asimakis, Hanna Rose,  Madison  Walker,  Courtney
Moriarty,  Nicole  Unsworth,  Hannah Kiraly, Kerri Corcoran, Abby Brush,
Sara Krauseneck, Kaitlin Drew-Mead, Emma Killeen, Kassi  Abbott,  Taylor
Whitney  and  Annie Katonka; Head Coach Kevin Houle; and Assistant Coach
Danielle Blanchard on their outstanding season and overall team  record;
and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Plattsburgh State Women's  Ice  Hockey
Team, Head Coach Kevin Houle, and Assistant Coach Danielle Blanchard.
