        MOURNING  the  death  of  Chief  Jason  M.  Buley,
        committed law enforcement officer,  family  man  and
        devoted member of his community

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous and hardworking police officer who dedicated his purposeful
life and career in faithful service to both his family and the residents
of New York State; and

  WHEREAS, It is with profound  sadness  that  this  Legislative  Body
records the passing of Chief Jason M. Buley of Holland Patent, New York,
who  died  unexpectedly  on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the age of 46;
and

  WHEREAS, Born on November 9, 1974, in New Hartford, Jason  M.  Buley
was the son of Dorothy (Famolaro) Buley and the late John J. Buley; and

  WHEREAS, Truly giving of his heart and soul to his profession in law
enforcement,  Jason  M.  Buley  knew  from a very young age he wanted to
follow in his father's footsteps and become a patrolman; he  steadfastly
strived  toward  that  goal  and  took  the difficult steps necessary to
become a member of the Whitesboro Police Department, the same Department
his father served, in 1998; and

  WHEREAS, Jason M. Buley served the citizens of Whitesboro, New York,
professionally, faithfully  and  loyally  for  more  than  two  decades,
working  his  way  up  from  Patrolman to Sergeant, and most recently as
Chief of Department, the esteemed position he held so dear; and

  WHEREAS, Highly regarded and sincerely respected amongst  his  peers
and  by those he served and protected throughout his illustrious career,
Jason M.  Buley was well-versed in the law, well-spoken in  all  manners
of  communication,  and  was  a  tough but fair police officer to all he
encountered; and

  WHEREAS, This extraordinary man proudly and diligently  carried  out
the  legacy  of  his  father,  not  only  garnering  the  attention  and
admiration of those who had known and worked with him, but also making a
name for himself in the process; and

  WHEREAS, With an untiring devotion to his  family,  Jason  M.  Buley
took  his younger brother Daniel under his wing and showed him the value
of hard work, virtue and loyalty  after  the  untimely  death  of  their
father; and

  WHEREAS,  Jason  M.  Buley met the love of his life, the former Lisa
Rehm, in 1995, and four years later, in the summer of 1999,  the  couple
was united in marriage before starting a family of their own; and

  WHEREAS, An uncompromisingly dedicated father, Jason M. Buley shared
knowledge,  wisdom and more than a few laughs with his beloved children,
Samantha and Nick; and


  WHEREAS,  Furthermore, Lisa and Jason shared a bond which is as rare
as  it  is  beautiful;  through  good  times  and  laughs,  and  through
staggering  adversity  and tragedy, they remained husband and wife, best
friends, partners in life and outstanding parents; and

  WHEREAS, In his free time, Jason  M.  Buley  enjoyed  being  in  his
garage  working  on  the  family fleet of vehicles; he had a passion and
self-taught enjoyment for working with cars and loved  to  spend  summer
days driving his Pontiac GTO or his lifted Jeep Wrangler; and

  WHEREAS,  Additionally,  on  any given summer evening or weekend you
could find him grilling, doing yard work or wrenching on something  with
wheels;  during  the  winter,  he  enjoyed  playing  pickup  hockey as a
goaltender; and

  WHEREAS, An avid and lifelong  Philadelphia  Flyers  fan,  Jason  M.
Buley  recently  got  a chance to meet his childhood idol, Flyers goalie
Ron Hextall, at a game in Philadelphia; and

  WHEREAS, Predeceased by his beloved  son,  Nicholas  J.  Buley;  his
father,  John  J.  Buley; grandparents, Sam and Lucy Famolaro, and Ernie
and Jeannine Foppes; and Aunt Josephine Grogan, among so many others  he
loved,  Jason  M.  Buley  is  survived  by  his loving wife, Lisa; their
daughter, Samantha; his mother, Dorothy; one  brother,  Daniel  (Jaime);
his  mother-in-law, Julie; father-in-law, William; brother-in-law, B.J.;
sisters-in-law, Kerri and Jennifer  (Chris);  his  cherished  aunts  and
uncles,  Russ,  Mike, Binnie, Sal and Marcia; cousins, Mike, Caitlin and
Tammie; and his niece and nephews, Eden, Mitchell,  Brendan  and  David,
who  adored  their  Uncle Jason and looked up to him so much; as well as
many other cherished family, friends and co-workers; and

  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a  sense  of
compassion,  Chief Jason M. Buley leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; he will be deeply missed and truly merits  the
grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Chief Jason M. Buley,  and  to  express  its  deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Chief Jason M. Buley.
