        CONGRATULATING  Betty  Fadale upon the occasion of
        celebrating her 100th Birthday on February 17, 2021

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative  Body  to  commemorate
and  recognize  certain  milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Empire State; and

  WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge
to  the  increasingly  active  roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a  vital  part  of,  and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
congratulate  Betty Fadale upon the occasion of her 100th Birthday to be
celebrated Wednesday, February 17, 2021; and

  WHEREAS, Anna Elizabeth Cowan, affectionately known  as  Betty,  was
born  on  February 17, 1921, in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania; she was one of
11 children born to Charles and Anne Waddell Cowan; and

  WHEREAS, During the late  1930s,  Betty  Cowan  was  a  professional
roller skater and moved to Elmira, New York to stay with her aunt; and

  WHEREAS,  Betty  Cowan  was  employed  as  a  nanny when she met her
husband Anthony (Shorty) Fadale at Joycrest Skating Rink in Elmira;  she
became  a  war  bride, marrying Shorty on August 5, 1941, in Winchester,
Virginia; and

  WHEREAS, After their marriage, Shorty and Betty  Fadale  moved  into
their  home  at  915  North Main Street, Elmira, New York, where she has
lived ever since; and

  WHEREAS, Betty Fadale enjoys spending time with her family,  playing
bingo, playing the horses, and scratch off tickets; and

  WHEREAS,  Furthermore,  with a passion for cooking and baking, Betty
Fadale made a career out of the latter, baking pies and pastries for the
Elmira Country Club for 60 years, retiring at the age of 96; and

  WHEREAS, Betty Fadale, with her zest  for  life,  has  inspired  and
enhanced the lives of her family and friends; she is the proud mother of
three  children,  Constance  (Randy), Carl (Mary) and Louis (Lesia), and
the loving grandmother of her grandson. Gabriel; and

  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of  and  reserved  for  those  with  the
stamina and courage to savor a full life; and

  WHEREAS,  Betty  Fadale  has  enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and

  WHEREAS, It is the intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  publicly
recognize  those  who  have  reached  such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural  developments  and
awesome  achievements  of  this  country  during the last century, while
themselves  contributing  to  the  growth  and  excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Betty  Fadale  upon  the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Betty Fadale.
