        HONORING Jessica Farrell, PharmD upon the occasion
        of  her  designation as recipient of the 2018 Ernest
        J.  Dupont  Award  by   the   Steffens   Scleroderma
        Foundation on October 12, 2018

  WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
commend and recognize those esteemed individuals and institutions within
the   medical   community   for   their   extraordinary   and  sustained
contributions to the progress of medicine and the improvement  of  life;
and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jessica  Farrell,  PharmD  upon  the  occasion  of  her  designation  as
recipient of the 2018 Ernest J. Dupont Award by the Steffens Scleroderma
Foundation  to  be  celebrated  at  its  Second  Annual Event on Friday,
October 12, 2018, at Jack's Oyster House in Albany, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Dr. Jessica Farrell is receiving this auspicious  award  in
recognition of her expertise and specialized focus on the pharmacy needs
in the context of Scleroderma, and for the extraordinary accomplishments
she  has  achieved  less  than  a  decade  into her career as a clinical
pharmacist; and

  WHEREAS, The first non-physician  member  of  the  medical  advisory
board  of  the  national Scleroderma Foundation, Dr. Jessica Farrell was
recently named to the governmental affairs  committee  of  the  American
College of Rheumatology; as an associate medical officer of the Steffens
Scleroderma  Foundation,  she  established  and  secured funding for the
first  in  the   nation   post-graduate   residency   in   rheumatologic
pharmaco-therapeutics; and

  WHEREAS,  Dr. Jessica Farrell received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree
at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany,  New  York;
subsequent  to  this, she completed an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Practice
Residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical  Center  in  Englewood,  New
Jersey;  following her residency, she was employed by Englewood Hospital
and Medical Center as an Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist; and

  WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Jessica Farrell is employed as an  Associate
Professor  in  the  department of pharmacy practice at Albany College of
Pharmacy and Health Sciences; in this capacity, she presents on numerous
rheumatic conditions  including  rheumatoid  arthritis,  osteoarthritis,
systemic sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE); and

  WHEREAS,   Dr.   Jessica  Farrell  also  works  at  The  Center  for
Rheumatology where she precepts 6th year pharmacy students and  provides
pharmacy  related  services  for  the providers, staff and patients; Dr.
Farrell and her students offer one-on-one medication counseling sessions
for patients with various rheumatic diseases; and

  WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting  commitment  to  teaching
and  extensive research activities which have focused on drug therapy in

autoimmune  diseases,  Dr.  Jessica  Farrell  received  a   Rheumatology
Research Foundation Health Professionals Online Education Grant in 2014;
in  that  same  year,  she  was  named an Albany College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences Preceptor of Distinction in Clinical Pharmacy; and

  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  her  valuable  work  with  the  Steffens
Scleroderma Foundation, Dr. Jessica Farrell serves in various capacities
for the New York State Council of Health  System  Pharmacists  (NYSCHP),
the  American  College of Rheumatology (ACR)/Association of Rheumatology
Health Professionals (ARHP), the American  Association  of  Colleges  of
Pharmacy  (AACP),  and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP),
as well as the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP); and

  WHEREAS, As a leader in her  profession,  Dr.  Jessica  Farrell  has
proven  herself  to  be  a great asset to medicine and to the health and
welfare of the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Jessica  Farrell,  PharmD upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2018 Ernest J. Dupont Award by the Steffens Scleroderma
Foundation on October 12, 2018; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Jessica Farrell, PharmD.
