Senate Resolution No. 36 BY: Senator BRESLIN COMMENDING Francis Rotundo upon the occasion of his retirement after almost 45 years of distinguished service to the State of New York WHEREAS, It is appropriate and fitting to duly recognize and commend those individuals of high purpose and dedicated service who have devoted their life and career to serving the workings of State government; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Francis Rotundo upon the occasion of his retirement after almost 45 years of distinguished service to the New York State Senate, to be celebrated at a party held in his honor on Thursday, November 15, 2018; and WHEREAS, Francis Rotundo, affectionately known to his family, friends and colleagues as Frankie, was born on August 2, 1949, in Washington, Pennsylvania; in 1964, he and his family moved to Delmar, New York, where he continues to reside today; and WHEREAS, After graduating from Bethlehem High School in 1968, Francis Rotundo earned his general business degree from Spencer Business School in 1970; he then to work for Menands Workshop where he performed various assembly and clerical tasks; and WHEREAS, On November 19, 1973, Francis Rotundo began his long and distinguished career with the New York State Senate working in the print shop; in January of 1977, he transferred to the Legislative Messenger Service, where he performed numerous jobs such as making deliveries, answering phones, utilizing various computer programs, and quality control, the position from which he will officially retire; and WHEREAS, In his much deserved retirement, Francis Rotundo plans on spending more time with his brother, Robert, and his friends, whether it be going out to dinner, going to the movies or rooting for the Pirates, Mets, Steelers or Patriots; one day he would like to travel to California, and participate in activities with the Bethlehem Seniors; and WHEREAS, In his capacity as a messenger, Francis Rotundo served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty; and WHEREAS, In recognition of his eminent service, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to extend its highest commendation to Francis Rotundo and to applaud him for his commitment, loyalty and accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Francis Rotundo upon the occasion of his retirement after almost 45 years of distinguished service to the State of New York, and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Francis Rotundo.
