AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a certain
portion of the Croton reservoir bridge as the "AMVETS Memorial Bridge"
and another portion of such bridge as the "Westchester County Workers
Memorial Bridge"
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 343-p of the highway law, as added by chapter 202
2 of the laws of 2003, is amended to read as follows:
3 § 343-p. A certain portion of the Croton [Reservoir Bridge] reservoir
4 bridge to be designated as the "AMVETS Memorial Bridge". [The] That
5 portion of the bridge across the Croton reservoir in the town of York-
6 town, Westchester county, [New York] which carries the Taconic parkway
7 northbound shall be designated and known as the "AMVETS Memorial
8 Bridge".
9 § 2. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 343-pp to read
10 as follows:
11 § 343-pp. A certain portion of the Croton reservoir bridge to be
12 designated as the "Westchester County Workers Memorial Bridge". That
13 portion of the bridge across the Croton reservoir in the town of York-
14 town, Westchester county, which carries the Taconic parkway southbound
15 shall be designated and known as the "Westchester County Workers Memori-
16 al Bridge".
17 § 3. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
18 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
19 as designated pursuant to sections one and two of this act. However, to
20 avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the
21 designation called for pursuant to sections one and two of this act
22 shall be of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highways
23 shall not be changed as a result of this act.
24 § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
